Dewatering sludge
Accumulation of residue in the sewage treatment plant is called sludge. A
sewage sludge can be substantial, semi-solid, or slurry sludge material which
is produced as a by-product of the wastewater treatment process. Formation of
sludge also occurs due to the various factor, and one of the most common
factors are Tannery waste water.
Tannery waste water is considered as one of
the most pollution sources. It can leads to the environmental issues related to
its high organic matter, suspended solids and chromium. A sludge is mainly
classified into two categories which are Primary sludge and secondary sludge.
The mud which occurs due to the chemical precipitation, sedimentation, and the
primary process is called primary sludge. In contrast, the secondary Sludge
occurs due to the activated waste biomass resulting from the biological
wastewater treatment.
Treatment and disposal of the sewage sludge is the major problem
the significant issues. Krofta engineering manufacturer various kinds of the
sewage treatment plant to removes the mud from the wastewater treatment plant.
The choice of sludge treatment mainly depends upon several factors such as
volume, size, and disposal option.
Sludge Dewatering and Its Importance In Sludge
Handling?
In sludge dewatering, the separation of liquid
and solids phase takes place. The best use of sludge dewatering can be seen in the
municipal or industrial wastewater treatment plant. Various techniques are used
in the de watering of sludge, including plate & frame and belt filter
process, geo membranes, and centrifuging.
It is essential to mention that de watering is not directly
involved in sludge treatment because it only separates the liquid and solids
components. But it plays a vital role in sludge handling and treatment because once
the separation takes place, the contamination present in solid and liquid are
treated separately.
Sludge dewatering is mainly used to reduce
the weight and volume of the sludge, so the disposal and sludge handling can be done quickly and at
the lowest cost. Removal of water is the primary factor in volume reduction.
With the increasing water pollution, sludge treatment becomes one of the
crucial factors for getting clean water.
